Outspoken: A Poetry Open Mic

Stone & Spoon is proud to announce a Poetry Open Mic in The Gallery at Stone & Spoon on Saturday, February 4th at 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
Led by local Poet, Alaina Foster, the Poetry Open Mic is a space for performance of spoken word poetry, slam poetry, and written word. This is an inclusive and encouraging environment to get your work out there and practice delivery.
The open mic is an event open to all levels of skill, newcomers, anyone that wants to read their poetry out loud. A sign-up for short 5-7 minute slots will be available prior to the beginning of the open mic and will receive preference. When the list is concluded, any time left over will be open time on the mic. Read your work, practice, experiment with a new style. Or even read someone else’s work, a poem that you love. Subject matter may include swearing or triggering content and are not necessarily the opinions of the Gallery. Suggested age 12+.
This is an event with suggested donation of $5 to attend/perform during the Open Mic. Pay what you can. All suggested donations will go to supporting the operation & continuation of supporting the arts in The Gallery!
Are you looking to work on your pieces of poetry that are in-progress before performing during the Open Mic? Join us for a Poetry Workshop/Round-Table on Saturday, February 4th at 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM.
The workshop is a space to share poetry in progress and receive feedback from other writers and me. In the hour we will have a conversation about the strengths and opportunities of the work created, also building our local writing community. A writer can ask follow up questions to feedback. This workshop is $35/per person.
