Chef’s Kiss: A Celebration of Food in Art

“Chef’s Kiss” opens on Friday, November 4th and runs through Sunday, December 18th, 2022 in The Gallery at Stone & Spoon.
Connecting over food reaches across all cultures, and brings people together in a way that nothing else can. Food has historically been a form of currency and recently become highly popularized as a source of entertainment with media. It has been politicized and controlled at the expense of farmers and entire cultures across the globe.
At our core, eating is what brings us “home.” A mouthful of macaroni and cheese will take us back to a childhood memory and a fresh tomato off the vine will remind us why we spend all summer waiting on its glorious, juicy burst of flavor.
It makes so much sense that food has become a subject for art since some of the earliest paintings including the hunting scenes in the Caves of Lascaux. That is what we do. We eat, we live, we record, we eat, we live, we record and so on, and that is what brings us here, today to enjoy some of today’s recordings by our local artists. Let’s enjoy their unique interpretations and realize that food actually is what brings us together now…and forever.
